Session One

General Summary

In the first session, wanderers Barish Torn (an Earth Genasi Druid), Edmond Jin (a human cleric) and Hurudim Woodwisk (a half-orc barbarian) met in a marketplace on the island of Mintarn. All of them had been drawn to this island by forces they could not explain. Each also possessed a unique artefact--a wedge of smooth polished stone with markings on it that they could not read.   They met Quarry, a stone merchant and another Earth Genasi--an unusual find for Barish as they were rare in the world let alone on the sea. They also met Elamaris Cithreth, a blood hunter masquerading as a cutlery salesman.   Before long they were accosted by Guag and Jux, an orc and goblin duo that represented a pirate ship in the harbor, The Hangman's Dream. This vessel was captained by Zuniga, a half-orc who was notorious in the region. Guag and Jux accosted Hurudim and attempted to take his artefact. They were repelled by the adventurers, however and while Jux escaped Guag would have been slain were it not for Jin's ministrations. The three adventurers soon found that they all possessed like artifacts and that they vibrated in harmony when brought near each other. When touched together, however, they magically combined into a three-quarter circle and could not be separated.  After coming to, Edmond Jin approached one of the merchants, Elmarith Cithreth.  Being naive, he asked questions regarding the attack on his abbey and the clue of a tattoo of an eye in a hand.  Despite his calm demeanor, Elmarith, showed some signs of recognizing the tattoo but would tell Edmond Jin nothing more.  However, Elmarith told Edmond that if Edmond needed Elmarith on the course of his adventure to "Let the thieves' guild know by telling them my name.  One from their organization will send word to me."   At this point they were approached by the archaeologist, Zaihiri, a Tiefling who was selling low grade antiquities in the marketplace. He offered them more information about the artefact and told them to meet him at the local Tavern, where Zaihiri told them that he had procured passage on a ship in the harbor that could take them to a place where they would be able to learn more about the nature of the items. This was interrupted when Jux burst into the tavern with more pirates, intent on dispatching the adventurers. They killed Jux and most of his crew of would-be assassins, and promised to meet Zaihiri in the harbor.   When they arrived at the harbor and set foot on the ship they realized that mistakes had been made. The ship was in fact the Hangman's Dream and Captain Zuniga was pleased to see them although less so about their treatment of her crew. She knocked them unconscious and threw them into the brig. Upon awaking the adventurers realized that they had not been relieved of the artefact and that they were in the company of a strange man. This became even more interesting when he revealed that he also had a matching piece of the artefact. Putting it together and looking the completed dial over he ended the session with the enigmatic phrase:   "Well that's the strangest compass I've ever seen. . ."
