What Are Witches

Witches are beings that come from a variety of backgrounds, like the half-demonic, to even the basic mortal. They perform a ritual that creates their very own soul incarnate called a Witch Soul. They practice the use of Sakti, or mana, into forms of different spells, which can be dangerous or funny and playful.
While most keep to themselves, there are others who do not and are open about their Witch ways, even going and starting small groups with other Witches. They allows for Witches to share knowledge of spells and even the ingredients for said spells.

Where Did Witches Come From

Witches were a small number when they started back when the Angelic Crusades were happening. They were taught how to manifest and bind their own soul or as they are more commonly called, familiars, by Galakrond.

Witch Souls

A Witch Soul is, as it says in the name, Witch's Soul put into flesh and blood. They are loyal to the Witch and are able to communicate thoughts, dreams, emotions, and even desire. But in order for a Witch to acquire a Witch Soul, they must complete a ritual that will summon the Witch Soul, ultimately binding their life force to the Soul. If the Witch is to die then so shall the Witch Soul.
Also, a Witch Soul's starting form is based upon the Witch. A Witch may have their Witch Soul manifest as rabbits, cats, dogs, snakes, birds, turtles, sometimes certain plants may manifest. It all depends on the Witch themself. But if the Witch really wants to change the form of the Witch Soul after the ritual to summon and bind it, then they may at any given moment.

The Ritual

The Ritual to summon and bind a Witch Soul is a ten hour process, where the Witch must steady their mind and align the Sakti within themselves to release their very soul. The way the Witch relaxes to get to this state is different for all, some have scented candles with quiet gentle music, while others have blood and herbs mixed in with a piston and mortar.

The Summoning

Once the Witch has achieved their own way to align the Sakti to release their soul. They speak ten words in order three times. Once they have completed summoning the Witch Soul, the Witch moves on to binding the soul to them.

The Binding

After the Witch has successfully summoned the soul to be formed and shaped, the binding can commence. The binding is the simplest processes of the ritual to perform as it channels the aligned Sakti directly into the soul through touch.

Witch Magick

Witches use the energy that everything accesses, Sakti. While the manifestation of the Sakti may differ per spell by Witch after Witch, it is still Sakti.
Some Witches sometimes have strong affinities to different elements and types of Sakti, but they are not bound to those types. Some may rain Helfire down upon their enemies, while others release a spore of noxious clouds to suffocate them.

Witch Form

This form allows the witch and their Witch Soul to become one.
When a Witch slips into their Witch form the witch's spells are stronger and they have a regenerative property while in this state. This form is also known as a Witch's True Form.
Witch Form for Witches is a honored state, although it is only used as a final resort because of the amount of Sakti is uses.

Known Witches

The most known Witch in the Nephalim's Asylum world is Nimue Umbrahold, as she is memorialized in The Nephalim's Asylum location in New York.
