The Dragon Folk

T

he people of the New Realm are called Dragon Folk. They are the descendents of the Giants from Old Earth.

History

During the time on Earth, a severe drought occurred, leaving the people, plants, and animals starving. There had never been a drought this significant nor this long. The Dragon Folk departed from Earth to seek a new realm.

To do this, seven elite omega dragons came together to perform incredible magic. Their goal was to leave earth and find a new realm to live in.

The Great Fall

The elite dragons gathered their communities together and used their magic to transport the folk to a new realm. It did not go well. The seven dragons burned alive in the transit, sending the folk in all directions of the universe. This catastrophe is called The Great Fall, because the folk fell from the sky, many to their deaths.

The New Realm

Some landed on a planet and survived. The planet was later called the New Realm by the Dragon Folk. The New Realm hosted an abundance of wildlife and plant life, but was void of any other species similar to the Dragon Folk. This was a new turning point for the dragons. They could start anew.

According to Folklore...

The Fates threaded magic into the blood of the Dragon Folk. But only some folk could wield magic, where others could not.

Common Folk

Those who could not wield magic, were known as the common folk. They lived ordinary lives, much like the humans of Old Earth. They lived between 60-80 years. Of the common folk, there were men, women, and children. Some common folk were leaders, others were laborers.

Dragons

Those who could wield magic were the dragons. They lived long lives, typically 20-3000 years, sometimes more. On Old Earth, they were considered the elites of the species. Of the dragons, there were men, women and children. There are few dragons and of the dragons that exist, they often fight each other to the death, keeping the population small. The dragons were divided based on their biological gender and are referred as Alphas and Omegas.

Alphas Dragons

Alphas dragons, are males who have the power of their ancestors. Many are born from common parents, but hold magic and can transform into a dragon. They live a long time, but because of their age and their strong magical powers, they often go insane. Alphas sometimes enslave the common people, which has become problematic.

Omega Dragons

Omega dragons are female and have the unique ability to siphon the power from her alphas. An omega has strong magical abilities.

To siphon power from her alphas, an omega draws the power of each of her alphas, giving her unparalleled strength.

She wields this strength and magic when there is an imbalance in power and magic which needs to be fixed.

Once she corrects the imbalance in power and magic, she returns the powers to the alphas. It is dangerous to keep the power to herself, as it will corrode her inner strength and poison her.

Daily Life of Dragons

Dragons live in pacs of 2-3 alpha dragons for one omega dragon. They live in lairs, away from the common folk. They have children, who will always be either an alpha or an omega.

The Personalities of Dragons

It is important to know that omega dragons are selfless, empathetic, and strong. They have a desire to help others before themselves. An alpha dragon is very selfish and unapologetic. He is also a leader and very strong. An alpha cannot siphon power. This is to protect the folk. An alpha is very strong and thinks of himself first. To siphon power would be dangerous for everyone. The only way an alpha can take the power of another would be if someone would give it to him willingly.

Cultures

The Fates separated the dragon folk within seven groups who were descendents of the elite dragons. Each group is from areas of the Old Earth. They were:

  1. The Mesopotamian dragons
  2. THe Egyptian dragons
  3. The Caral-Supe dragons
  4. The Dragons of Asia
  5. The Norse Dragons
  6. The Northern Dragons (North America)
  7. The Southern Giants (Australia)
