The paws are very large with fur to protect it from the snow and ice. The paws also have long sharp claws that help with traction while walking. This carnivore eats animals within the northern lands including, fish, seals and birds. Because of where the white bear lives, they have no natural predators and are fierce and deadly.

Genetics and Reproduction

The female north bear delays implantation to ensure the cubs are born in winter for better survival. It is the female that rears the cubs until they reach sexual maturity. The risk of male bears killing their young means females are highly defensive of their cubs.

Growth Rate & Stages

C

ubs are born in winter nests. These nests are large holes dug in the snow. During springtime, the cubs and the mother leave the nest and venture through the forest and across the ice to find food. The cubs stay with their mother until they are old enough to leave. The mother will teach the cubs how to catch fish, seals and other animals. They are highly adaptive to the harsh environment and will eat dead carcasses when available.
