Pattern Guilds

The Dawn Preservers and similar organizations were reorganized and split into five(5) pattern guilds. These organizations are tasked with training the gifted, with ensuring the future of the gifted while keeping the populace safe from the chaos of the Weave and dangers of magic. Only those licensed with one of these organizations and attain at least Expert rank can use the Weave in public (whether by casting magic or manifesting superhuman or magic-like abilities). Each adventurer needs to pick one of these organizations to become a part of - you will start the game at the Novice rank.   Each of these organizations has a different world view and is willing to have a specific set of classes in their ranks. Each organization has the following information:
  • Motto: a short blurb that describes the organization's world view.
  • Classes: the list of base classes that can join the organization. Multi-classing can still work, use the dominant class when making this choice.
  • Adversarial: these organizations tend to clash due to differing ideals. They often compete for information and resources and as organizations often have conflicting agendas. That said, individual members can still work together and even be close friends, though they may need to deal with conflicts of interest.
  • Friendly: organizations where ideals often align or are compatible. These guilds often work together, share information and resources.
  • Contact: the name of the main NPC contact that your character would interact with when dealing with the guild. This contact may change as you advance through the ranks or things happen, but at the beginning, every person in the group who belongs to the same guild will use this contact.
