Personal history
Background: Ljótr's birth was a mistake. Her mother, Ymir, had been in her first heat and had been pressured by her father, some unnamed male passing through, to mate. The result was Ljótr and her brother. Her brother would never be named and was killed before he could grow too big as Ljótr witnessed. This has permanently scarred her and has made her terrified of her mother. Ljótr was somewhat lucky according to some wolves. Because she had been born female, it made chasing her off more difficult. She was Ymir's firstborn and that was special even if her mother didn't want to admit it. And so Ljótr was allowed to be named and allowed to stay. Her mother made sure she knew how much she didn't like her but was never abusive. Instead, she's always just gone.
9/30/2020: Ljótr is joyful for the new pups that keep arriving in the pack. Too young to know or care, she never questioned where all these pups were coming from. As more pups join their pack, Ljótr's aunt, Brimir, is assigning them to future pack positions. Not wanting to leave her out, Ljótr is assigned the position of Medicinal Healer.
10/15/2020: With the quick growth of the Yggdrasil pack, Ljótr is quickly forgotten and set aside. Her aunt Brimir, who had previously spent a lot of time with her, no longer even spoke with her. She was taken off of Medicinal duty, as she had found someone better for the job. Ljótr's mother, Ymir, had now made her scout. Most likely so that she wouldn't have to see her around so often.
10/23/2020: After realizing what terrible scout her daughter was, Ymir allows Ljótr to return and become the pack's medicinal healer again.
10/31/2020: Ljótr begins her medicinal training.
2/20/21: Ljótr begins apprenticing Hvass to become the pack's new medicinal healer. Hvass was the daughter of Sókn, the alpha's warrior and bodyguard, but unfortunately, Hvass didn't make the cut to becoming a warrior like her mother and was too weak to be a hunter. Ljótr felt bad for her, but that pity quickly dissipated as she began to get to know Hvass better. She was aggressive and loud-mouthed just like her mother. She would often blow off her duties and lessons or intentionally provide incorrect diagnoses to other wolves. Ljótr tried remaining patient with her for she knew that Hvass wasn't dumb, just frustrated with her lot in life. The young wolf reminded her of herself.
2/25/2021: Ljótr retires as the healer for the pack at the age of 6 years 4 months. She worries about Hvass, but there was nothing she could do about it. Brimir insisted that she hand over the title to Hvass despite Ljótr having voiced her concerns about her apprentice's behavior.
3/1/21: Ljótr begins receiving patients behind Hvass's back as Hvass's attitude has not improved and she has scared off most of the pack from coming to her for healing purposes. Ljótr knows the trouble she could face from Brimir, Sókn, or even her own mother Ymir I, but decided the risk was worth it.
3/10/21: Hvass finds out about Ljótr's side operation. She takes it as a very personal insult. Enraged she begins to verbally degrade her mentor in front of the entire pack. With the backing of her mother, Sókn, and the silence from Kæmpe, Hvass challenges Ljótr to a Holmgang. Ljótr knew she had zero skill when it came to fighting, she had never learned as there was no one wanting to teach her. Additionally, Hvass was in her prime while Ljótr was old and ailing. And yet Ljótr accepted the challenge, there was no other choice really. If she turned it down, the entire pack would chase her out, savagely ripping into her hindquarters as she fled. She would die of her wounds in foreign territory and away from their gods. But if she accepted, she would die a good death as the god bore witness to her valor. She would even receive her own den in Valhalla.
Ljótr had not considered how Hvass's wounded pride would escalate her cruelty. Hvass won the fight, which was always going to be the outcome, but Ljótr had not some much as landed one blow on the other wolf. This was typically custom and done as such, it was not truly a "fight" and more of an execution. For this Ljótr would never reach Valhalla.
