Soothsayer

Soothsayers can speak with the dead, spirits, ghosts, and demons. Soothsayers trained in the dark arts can summon these creatures as well.

Career

Qualifications

In order to become a Soothsayer, a wolf must have a natural connection with communicating with the dead. There is no mentorship program or apprenticeship anyone can complete, the knowledge simply comes from experience, speaking with the dead, and whatever information the previous Soothsayer left, which isn't always much. They may also contact dead Soothsayers, but this is a difficult task to accomplish.

Career Progression

Soothsayers typically discover their abilities at the age of 1 to 2 years old. At this time they are jokingly called Youthsayers. When they reach a better understanding of their abilities they are then regarded by their correct title.

Other Benefits

Soothsayers are considered higher-ranking wolves as they will often assist their alpha in speaking with past leaders.

Perception

Purpose

Soothsayers fulfill an advisor role for the entirety of the pack, though they mainly consult the Alpha. They speak with and for the dead wolves of the past in order to bring insight and guidance to present-day problems.

Social Status

Soothsayers are held in high regard for their power, however, they can also be feared for their ability to summon demons. Most Soothsayers choose not to learn demon summoning in order to reassure their pack members.

Operations

Workplace

The workplace of a Soothsayer depends on the wolf and where they feel the strongest connection to the dead. For some this is deep within a dark cave, for others, it is an open field without trees in sight.

Dangers & Hazards

The dangers of being a Soothsayer involve the problems of demons. This includes demonic possession of a spirit or ghost, releasing a demon, or becoming possessed themselves. There are also minor problems such as summoning a spirit who will not return to the other side.
