Vico (a.k.a. The Thorn)

Vico is a street kid who made a name for himself as a pipe rat, knowing the ins and outs of the city's guts, popping up where least expected, or wanted. Thus he got the nickname "Thorn".

Personal history

Vico was born on the streets of Uxphon, or so he thinks. His earliest memories are of stealing to survive and living in the pipes.
While still a child, he was taken in for a time by an Aeon Priest who had discovered his potential as a nano. The priest attempted to teach Vico that life was more than fighting, stealing and hiding and for a time, the boy enjoyed something of a peaceful life. Disaster struck when his instincts got the better of him and he was caught trying to lift a piece of numenera off of an Uxphon noble. This event shaped much of Vico's teenage years, as his guardian was disgraced and later perished in imprisonment and he was sentenced to slavery. By some miracle, Vico escaped before the slavers could take him, but any chance for a peaceful life vanished.
The following years were a blur, running with various gangs, making life difficult for the oligarchs of Uxphon when he could and living as if there was no tomorrow.
Nowadays, he has gained a reputation as a fearless, notoriously hard to pin down troublemaker. He takes any job that hurts the noble families, keeps many acquaintances but few friends and does what he pleases with little care for consequences.

Education

Vico has some basic training in the ways of the Numenera from his time with his Aeon Priest guardian. Otherwise, he has no interest in learning or studying much, preferring to rely on his quick wit.

Employment

When he's not running with any gangs, Vico is a somewhat well known criminal element of Uxphon, always willing to take on a job that lets him vent his frustrations on the upper class.

Vico is somewhat infamous in the Reaping scene, known as being untouchable and luring his opponents into explosive situations.

The disgrace and death of his guardian while still a child, which he blames himself for.

Mental Trauma

Due to his troubled youth and especially the death of his guardian, Vico has an intense hatred of the aristocrats and would never trust or work with one, unless it was to harm another noble.

Morality & Philosophy

There are few things that bother Vico, neither stealing, nor slavery, nor murder. However he does take a shine to the unfortunate and especially the children of the streets, refusing to do them harm, if not necessarily being philanthropic.

Vico refuses to take part in any activities that hurt children, even being reluctant to cause indirect harm to children of the nobility.
