One Mind

The One Mind was the governing council of The Unity, although in later years it had almost no legislative powers.

Public Agenda

From its beginning to its end, the One Mind underwent a drastic change in its objectives. As originally conceived, the One Mind was solely concerned with managing the goods trade carried on the conduits . But because it comprised the leaders of islands and cities throughout the cluster, the meetings were often taken up in discussing political matters having nothing to do with the conduits. In Walemin's later years as Uniter, she saw the One Mind as a means of having her opinions enforced throughout the Cluster Islands. After Kezlaf took over, the One Mind had no real role in government except to convey his decrees to the people they represented.

History

The Unity was officially inaugurated on the first day of the 2000th year of the Volcanic Era, although its foundation had been laid over the previous twenty-five years. The first meeting of the One Mind was held a few days later on Mraydor, and from then on convened once a month in the same location. Membership changed meeting to meeting depending on the representatives' local politics, until Walemin declared that the Uniter would make all such appointments in the future.

Disbandment

The One Mind was disbanded after the dissolution of the Unity in 2040 Vol. The members were permitted to return home, but forbidden from taking part in the new Allied Isles organization.
