What has been lost to history is the true origin of Colvara's Torc. A distant ancestor of the last King of Colvara had imprisoned into the Torc which had been crafted to house the entity. The demon was a cunning creature who was an expert on manipulation. Whoevor wears it would be slowly converted to serve the Demon's purpose which was choas in general and freedom for itself via soft whispers. Fist in dreams then when awake until there is full communication between demon and wearer

History

Colvera's Torc is old. It first came into Imperial hands over a fifteen hundred years ago. Colvera was a city-state located south of the Freelander Wall and west of the Golden Sea. The Torc had been a symbol of the Kings of Colvera. Legends said it allowed the Kings to see the future. Alas legends of the commonfolk could not see or stop Imperial expansion. Colvera's King, whose name has been lost to the histories, flogged the first and last Imperial envoy to arrive at their city's gate. The Empire sent no more envoy's to Colvera.
It sent the Shadowguard
It took one night for the ultimate expression of Imperial Might to take the city and those that were not put to the sword were sold at the blocks. The Last King Of Colvera was still wearing it when he was captured and brought before the Imperial throne in chains. The emperer claimed it when the Kings head was removed. And for almost a millenia it lay on a padded pillow in a hall of Imperial trophies.
It was selected as a wedding present for one of the Empress' favorite nephews. It passed down that line until it was worn by a distant member of the Imperial family who thought to start a rebellion. They managed to gain some ground and even took three cities and held them for a year.
Then the Empire sent the Shadowguard.
Colvera's Torc was removed in a far less dramatic fashion. When the rebellious member of the Imperial family learned the Shadowguard were at his cities gates... he took poison. It and his entire treasury were siezed and taken to the capitol.
Colvera's Torc sat in Imperial storage for a few more centuries before it was discovered on a dusty shelf. An Artisan was summoned and the very young member of the Guild reported back on what enchantments were upon it, the ability to see in the dark as well as a cat. It was then listed in the Imperial registry with that enchantment listed. It was selected by the newly appointed Provincial Governor for her personal allotment. The Governor, Isabella Reving, became the Kingdom's first Queen after the Fall. Each of the seven individuals who would become the first Dukes and Duchess were given a magical item from Isabella as a sign of trust. Colvera's Torc was given to the First Duke of Coltegro. From there it was passed along with the Ducal Title. Some Duchies entrusted the Heir with their Writ Token as such magical items were sometimes refered to. Coltegro did not. Only the ruling Duke or Duchess could possess Colvera's Torc per Duchy Law.
