Dusk to Night
"When the sun fades and Dusk comes on, death shall ride, hunting for Dawn" - scrap of ancient poem associated with the legend of Dusk to Night
Summary
One of the two great Orders of Ancient Times (Pre 4500 BF) that warred for millenia, The Orde of Dusk, was destroyed. Legend says the remnants of the Order of Dawn spent the rest of their days hunting down any who may have escaped.
Most accept this as true. A vast majority of people in modern times believe that the myth that one of the Order of Dusk did escape. A small handful of followers were attracted, recruited and trained so that when the Last member of the Order of Dusk finally died a fully trained and commited cult was left behind with instructions to keep the ideals of the Order of Dusk alive. Legend speaks that his last words were a prophecy that declared their time would rise again far in the future and they would take back what had been taken from them and ending the banishment of the Demons to The Outer Dark. When that happens the demons shall descend on the world and place all it's people into captivity to be used for slave labor or other evil purposes with those that brought them back to placed upon high, right below the demons.
Historical Basis
There are ancient documents that speak of the two Orders. But given their existence was so far in the past (largely believed to be around 5500 BF) how much is fact and how much is exaggeration or mistaken or just wrong is largely open to debate. A strong majority of historians point that there is a strong tradition of accurate oral tradition was very strong in most places so perhaps it was more truth then fable.
