The Orion-Cygnus Sector

The Orion-Cygnus Sector is a region of space roughly equidistant between Sidereal Legion territory and the holdings of the Rax Hegemony. As such, it is mostly empty space being squabbled over by private interests and a handful of superpower-affiliated vanguard factions.   To the galactic northwest, the Hive Ministry holds an area containing two Celestial Megastructures that it harvests for exotic metamaterials, as well as many lucrative gas mining operations. The Legion maintains a presence at their infamous supermax prison, Stormlock, and around the quarantine world of Sol III.   To the galactic southeast, the Hegemony has parked a Veturax-class Warhulk - "Whom Death Forgot" - from which it controls its own slice of the sector. Mineral-rich worlds are stripmined, and the 186th Expeditionary Force patrols ever so slightly further from their spacelanes than is perhaps necessary.   In the middle of the sector lies the Sirius system, a binary pair with two planets (both worthless) and an old refinery built by the Ministry, known colloquially as "Dogtown." In the absence of anything to actually refine, Dogtown has become a popular rest stop for indepedent space truckers, as well as a hotbed of black market activity - or so they say. With the tendrils of the superpowers closing in amidst rumors of unusual activity in the deep black, how long can Dogtown stay independent... and intact?
