The Three Lost Temples of Calliba

Among the famous exemple of ancestral architecture on the Oryuh Archipelago, there was once five temples on the Grittily islands that were dedicated to Calliba, a very ancient and terrible Goddess. Only two are in a known location nowadays. Three have been Lost.

Calliba and the Cult

The Deity Calliba is one of the most terrible there is in the Archipelago. Goddess of Wrath and Terror, she is referred by very few who have the impression they have to compensate their low numbers by grad gestures and sacrifices. They don’t really stop at usual code lines and murder of a being is not above them. This doesn’t help the numbers of followers either. The only moment when her numbers go up are when something terrible happens. A plague, a hurricane, something truly devastating is needed for the followers to gather, asking forgiveness. Until they forget why they were there in the first place, and leave again, seeing the horrors the cult ask of them.

The Five Temples

At some point, five temples had been constructed to show respect to the Goddess. Very grand buildings, very rich and very somber, all constructed around a sacrificial table. Very ominous. We don’t know why there were five. There weren’t that many followers at the time that so many temples were needed. Some say the Temples were actually traps for the Goddess to maintain control over her and limit her wrath. Whatever the truth, with the years, three temples have been lost. And I don’t mean destroyed. I mean they have actually disappeared. The temples, the followers, and even the trace of them having being constructed so much so that we don’t know where they had been and no research can be made. We barely have an oral trace of these buildings in the first place, ranking them among legends.
