Sanctum Cedars Hostel & Roadhouse

Sanctum Cedars is a simple building complex offering shelter to travelers to the Sanctum area. It is popular with younger travelers and those with little means. Occupants are expected to contribute to the hostel's upkeep as part of their stay. Somehow things work out this way, as it is uncertain if anyone owns the place. However, there are a number of occupants who seem to live there on a long-term or even permanent basis, and they tend to have a good idea about the ad hoc economy of the place.

Purpose / Function

Sanctum Cedars is a place to find shelter, a little food, and friendship. The governing style is very anarchic, but it never seems to fall into any kind of chaos. There is nobody to answer to or pay except one another. Like most places throughout the archipelago, the hostel has a magical aspect—in this case, travelers who stay here report this compulsion to compensate and contribute to the operation and upkeep. They always claim their payment and/or service as being joyful and personally rewarding.

Alterations

There always seem to be add-on projects, shacks, tents, and tarps that spring up and are taken down depending on the season (and more likely the mood).

Architecture

It is a rather ramshackle and motley style as if there are a constant series of add-on projects. The main building is an open dormitory style, but there are a few rooms off to the side. There is a communal kitchen separated by a back wall which has enough capacity for a number of cooks, and a tented-in porch out the back that serves as an eating area.
