Harriet ir'Kendall

Respected master wizard and current chancellor of Aundair's Dragonhawk Initiative, Harriet is an expert of both conjuration magic and bureaucracy. She has been a trusted councillor of the Arcane Congress for over a decade, participating in both laboratory and field research.
The heir apparent to the noble Kendall line, she has been the rising star of her family from a young age. Leaving the management of their household and estate to her father, she was encouraged to make a name for herself independant of her family. While this may have been intended as a side interest, something to help politically once she inherited the estate, instead it became everything to her. Finding she had an aptitude for magic, she enrolled at Arcanix, flying through the ranks with an aptitude for taking on projects too risky or dangerous for others. She had a whirlwind romance with fellow academic, Edwin, fourth son of another noble family and considered an excellent match for her. Soon though, it became clear that academia was the life set out for her, and between three children, five major expeditions, and her father's continued good health, it's been a long time since she thought of leaving to manage her estate.
The only potential blemish on her record has been the Beacon Affair, where Harriet was caught up in an expansionist coup attempt by then-Minister for War, Adal ir'Wynarn. Arguing against Adal, she was briefly targeted by the Royal Eyes for treason, fleeing to Beacon until Adal's coup was exposed and suppressed, and she was welcomed home. After Aundair's space program was proposed, she was already considered a strong candidate for leadership. The Beacon Affair cemented this, with Harriet's prior position as a strong voice against military aggression helping to support the Initiative as a peaceful organisation.
Her family is nearly as varied as her work. After an incident during an expedition in distant Xen'drik, her husband Edwin became infused with elemental ice, his frosty appearance standing out as he assists with her work. It's also said that her eldest daughter is a freshly appointed archmagi, the youngest in a generation at only 23, however it's unclear how freely Harriet can call on her assistance.
