Karrlakton

Karrlakton is the ancient seat of House Deneith, and home to their leadership for over 2,000 years. Today, it is a powerhouse of Karrnathi industry, and is renowned for its metalwork, arms and armour manufacturing. 
The city predates the Galifar empire, and has a historical claim as a birthplace of kings. Both Karrn the Conquerer and King Galifar I were born there, but even before that the Deneith Warlords who conquered large swathes of the country did so from Karrlakton. When Galifar began his campaign to unite the nations, House Deneith yielded to serve under him, and so the city became the centre of the new empire's military power. 
During the war, it was a fortified and often attacked city, sitting right on the front lines with Cyre. Today, the city sits alone on the banks of the Cyre River, right across from the Mournland. On clear days, the wall of dead-grey mist is visible on the horizon, the fog spilling out over the river. 
Because of the close proximity of the Mournland, Karrlakton attracts a number of doomsayers and apocalyptic cultists, there to look on the doom of the Mournlands. Rarely does anything slip out of the Mournland and make it across the fast-moving river, but sometimes the winds change to carry a flying monstrosity or living spell into Karrlakton.
