Mperi

The Mperi are a sapient species whose homeworld is currently unknown to humanity. They are the only known sapient species other than humanity, and the presumed extinct Cetians. They are believed to have developed on a world with considerably higher gravity than Earth, and thus are shorter than humans on average, but stronger and heavier. They resemble arthropods, but possess both exo- and endo-skeletons. They possess four legs and two arms, each with three-digit hands with opposable thumb-like digits. They lack any sort of eyes, instead "seeing" through echolocation, and they communicate through rapid clicking sounds, similar to crickets.
Little is known about Mperi society, save that it is spread across numerous star systems. Most sociologists believe the Mperi are united in a single interstellar polity, much like humanity was prior to the The Antimatter Crisis.
