Spooktober 2024 | Campfire Stories
This year's approach to Spooktober is with prep in mind, much like last year! This year, however, we're trying to spin that focus not on WorldEmber but NovelEmber! My collection of WorldEmber-focused stubs from last year served me so well during the event, so I hope this year's challenge sets me up for the same success with NovelEmber!
This hub article will feature all of the ideas and concepts that this challenge will spawn for me! I can't promise that any of the articles physically submitted to the challenge will actually survive long past it, so you'll be seeing the text descriptions only, and not article blocks.
Breath — Our protagonist finds a moment's rest after the encounter of the prologue. He can catch his breath as we learn more about who we are reading about, and where he is headed — and what he's running from.
Aberration — Journeying through the lands brings our protagonist to an emergence of the leyline of genesis — while most life appears to go on as usual, a dark and terrible entity lurks and grows in the shadows.
Depths — Cast into the ocean in a terrible storm, our protagonist finds himself in the delicate care of a local tideheart population residing within the depths — with no knowledge of how to return to the surface.
Drown — Though grateful for the aid of the Tideheart, our progtagonist insists on returning home, against their warnings. The journey to the surface is perilous from start to finish. Will he even make it?
Predator — Our protagonist comes face to face with his pursuers, but we find that they are not exactly what we would expect.
Lair — The time comes for the direct approach, and our protagonist must engage his enemy directly, but does not expect to find himself within the very lair of the enemy.
Ancient — Resuming the Studies. The ruins of Aurel are barred to all research, but there are many who refuse to sit down and let valuable knowledge rot away with time. The quest for knowledge, however, is no safe venture.
Fur — Ebi arrives in Iverra for the first time and is taken by all of the new sights! There are so many new things to explore and new people to meet! Among them are the staff of Ringtale!
Tongue — Enrolling in Ringtale comes with its own challenges, but the reward is a delicious one, as Ebi participates in her first cooking class with Chimari Motera! What tasty morsels will Ebi learn to pick and pack for the road?
Eye — Learning to cook wasn't enough on its own; Ebi has to learn to find ingredients out in the wild! Lessons from Wenry Koasten sure are packed with information and knowledge... best Ebi keeps a journal to keep track of it all!
Armored — Ebi tries to use her new knowledge on a simple gathering quest, but struggles until she gets help from Soma Ryleki, who teaches her all about the tools of the trade, so she is well equipped on her earliest of journeys.
Space — To the Stars! Ebi continues her studies with Wenry, who finds some time to teach his students about the cosmos. What does Ebi see out there, in the inky black sky?
Winged — Leaps of Faith. Inspired by her usual daydreams, Ebi extends her wings and tries to swoop in to save the day — but it really doesn't end up going according to plan.

Ayun Sovos was introduced with the Path to Adventure story, and I hope to advance it over time!
