Boundaries of Temperature

Within the pillar there are natural boundaries and limits. There are cold depths and blazing heights that control just how much the populous of this world can spread.
As one ascends higher and higher up the pillar so does the temperature until a point is reached where the air boils and not even reptiles may traverse. The highest temperature recorded was at 61 degrees Celsius.
The same can also be said for going in the opposite direction. As one descends further and further down the pillar the air condenses more and more as the temperature drops. Mammals being fur covered and warm blooded are able to tolerate these temperatures more however at some point everything freezes. The lowest recorded temperature was -38 degrees Celsius.
Socioeconomic and Literal Climate Zones
The Beginning- Is all areas past the impenetrable heat. The beginning is located 1 kilometer from the known temperature center; the very center of Ethos. The hottest temperature ever recorded in the pillar, 61 degrees, was at the very beginning of this scorched region.
Haven - Is the area reserved for the highest class reptilian citizens as well as recreational amenities. It is a small area located between .5 and .75 kilometers away from the city center. The temperature here ranges from 38 to 52 degrees Celsius.
Accent - Is the area reserved for reptilian citizens, extremely wealthy mammals and luxurious shopping areas. It is extremely hard for mammals to get into this area of the city and once there they rarely ever look back. Some even shave, perhaps they think that allows them to blend in. this region is located just out of the city center all the way up to Haven. The temperature here hovers from 21 degrees toward the middle and climbs toward 37 degrees the higher one goes.
The Center - Is where both races meet and must interact. The temperature here always hovers around 18 degrees without much variation.
Decent - This area is filled with poorer mammalian communities. There is a shopping district, standard commerce, but it is substantially lesser off than upper richer reptilian communities. this district stretches from the city center to around -0.75 kilometers away from the city. The temperature here ranges from highs of 16 degrees to -10 degrees.
Grovel - Is filled to the brim with slums and second hand shops. Most residences are illegal hovels sprinkled among toxic mining facilities. This region stretchs from -0.75 km to -1.5 km away from the city center. The temperature here ranges from highs of -12 to -30 at it's most unbearable.
The End - A region of unbearable cold awaits just bellow the already questionable areas within the Grovel. It's believed there are those who live in this region however this is simply a myth. The lowest temperature ever recorded in the pillar, -38 degrees, was taken at the very top of this region.
