The Fire Brigand

The Fire Brigand was a highwaywoman who haunted the roads between Atalasu City, Abbay, and other major settlements. She was known to appear out of the dark and bombard merchant caravans with fireballs and walls of flame. Casualties are not entirely known, as one common factor among most reported attacks was the scattering of survivors, which with the confusion of the attack, makes accurate data hard to compile. Reports are often confused with some survivors reporting they had seen others killed, though those others survived to make their own reports of the attack.   After three years of predation, the Fire Brigand's attacks slowed and then stopped. No capture was made, and no report of a successful counter-attack which claimed her life came to light, so it was gradually assumed that she had retired from highway robbery or even had died of other causes.   Two years after that, the Fire Brigand's attacks were renewed, this time in concert with a larger gang of outlaws. While the primary method of attack remained fireballs and similar magical assault, this second wave of attacks proved to be more deadly, with more travelers, merchants, and guards dying in each clash with the Fire Brigand and her brutal new troop of bandits. A few argued that this change in tactics indicated a change in Fire Brigands, that perhaps a new bandit had picked up the abandoned reputation, but the general view that it did not matter who used the name, the raids were real and devastating. A fresh bounty was placed upon the Fire Brigand but it has not yet been claimed.
