The History of the Nephites

Most of the people living in Jerusalem 600 years before the birth of Christ were wicked. God sent prophets to tell them to repent, but they would not listen. Among one of these prophets was Lehi and he too had tried to let the people know that they must repent or else the great city Jerusalem will be destroyed. One day while Lehigh was praying for the people to repent, a pillar of fire appeared. God told and showed Lehi many things to the point where he began to tremble and quake at this. He then began the trek home back to his house. While he was sleeping, an Angel appeared to him in his dreams, showing him God and the angels around God were praising God. The Angel then went down to Lehigh and gave him a book to read. As he began reading, it was revealed to him that Jerusalem will be destroyed, and its inhabitants will be carried away into Babylon because of the people's wickedness. The next morning after he awoke, he went to the people of Jerusalem and told them all he had seen and told them to repent, otherwise the things that will come to pass. Upon hearing these words, people try to Kill Lehi because they hate being pointed out for their obvious faults. But the lord protected Lehi as he fled the city from their attempts of taking his life.   The Lord was pleased with Lehi in doing what he was asked to do and so, by blessing him, he told Lehi that he should flee Jerusalem in order to avoid being captured by the Babylonians. The next morning, Lehi told his family of what the Lord had told him and informed them that they would be leaving and taking only what is necessary, leaving all their property and wealth. His family consisted of his wife whose name was Sariah, and his three sons, which were Laman, Lemuel, Nephi and Sam. After three days of traveling in the wilderness Lehi built an altar and gave offerings and thanks to the Lord for keeping his family safe.
Lehi had begun prophesying during the first year of King Zedekiah reign. After he left, the Prophet Jeremiah started to prophesy to people. At this time King Zedekiah had rebelled against Babylon and lost everything because of his choices.
