The First World
In the beginning, before the first word was ever spoken, before the first breath was ever breathed, before the first creature lived and died, there was The Unfathomable. A teeming mass of primordial chaos, The Unfathomable contained power that could not be comprehended. Deep inside The Unfathomable, a patch of harmony existed. Inside this small respite of order lied an egg. This egg grew slowly in millennia, expanding in size before eventually cracking, letting loose Life upon the universe. The being emerging from this egg is known as The Totality, the embodiment of all planes where mortals can live.
The Totality emerged from The Unfathomable, determined to cultivate a new state of being, however, the shell it left behind had spawned a new universe over the course of its emergence, known as the first world. Upon the first world lived all manners of creatures, the most prominent being the elder things, a species of researchers dedicated to expanding science. This was the time before death, before pain, where anything could be done with little to no consequences. They conducted experiments on all beings they could find, seeking a way to understand the fabric of their existence. They found out the secret to ultimate power, seeking two beings to test it on, eventually deciding upon a canary and a deer.
The experiment succeeded, creating two of the most powerful beings in the R Mythos. The Canary arose, given sentience, seeking to aid others. The deer, on the other hand, rose with cacodaemonical splendor, a being that was known to all and none in an instant. Death.
The land around them fell to alabastrine void as they escaped in the product of their research into traveling beyond the aberrant sphere existing as both a prison and a sanctuary. They escaped narrowly, leaving behind the beings containing cosmic power. They stood in the void facing each other, knowing what must be done.
The Deer's flesh melted away during the experiment, leaving only a skull with a white light echoing in the vast pits of its lifeless eyes. The Deers body now reduced to a black mass of faces, names, hooves, eyes, alien tendrils, grasping claws, and all beings that glory has faded into the embrace of its impossible nature. The canary became esque of a feathered human with the head of a bird, a symbol of power burned into its chest. This creature stared at death with an unplaceable intensity. It took one step forward, then sprung forward with the speed of a blink of an eye, striking Death across the skull, thus beginning the battle of the ages. This duel of fates lasted an eternity, yet was won in an instant to untrained eyes. The victor exited the shell, collapsing it behind them, trapping Death in an inescapable void.
The canary exited The Unfathomable, donning a scarlet tracksuit and hat, traveling towards The Totality. It entered one of the Totalities worlds, seeking beings who desire to do good. It traveled to other universes, moving past perceptible speeds to appear in every universe at once. This being became collectively known as “The Bird Man”.
