History of the Sewer Ventilation System of Freyburn
Freyburn was plagued by a pervasive odor. The unsettling smell of sewage and rot crept its way through the streets and alleys. It was a pungent amalgamation of waste and neglect that blanketed the entire city.
This noxious aroma had built up over many years as the sewer system had come to be neglected and had become blocked with debris and murky sludge. As the stagnant effluence built up, so too did the odor. This smell came to be so bad that the Old Lord Rainner of Freyburn eventually realized something needed to be done about it to restore the city's honor.
Thankfully in 1986 R.E., is when Sarzogg the dragonborn artificer stepped in. Sarzogg had a vision of the solution, a network of fan vents to blow the smell away and connect the sewers to the outdoors for any gas to dissipate.
Fortunately, dragonborns are naturally skilled when it comes to engineering and architecture, and Sarzogg used his adept craftsmanship to construct the ventilation system in Freyburn. He made metal fans connected to the sewers and lined the walls with stone to hold them in place. Layers of limestone and brick rested atop the walls to ensure that the ventilation had the durability it needed to stand the test of time.
Amazingly, Sarzogg was able to construct the entire system without leaving any instructions behind. He only left an instruction manual written in draconic, so only experts in the language would understand them.
With the ventilation system in place, the smell of Freyburn was eventually gone. Sarzogg’s engineering ingenuity provided a breath of fresh air to the long-suffering citizens of the city.
