Eulor Blacktongue

"What is magic, but a pure expression of power? The power to reshape reality, to bend the cosmos to your will and whim. It is life and it is death, both the sword that cleaves your foes and the armor that blunt's their blows. But what use is such power if you are afraid to wield it? What use is such power if you are afraid to kill for it?"
- an excerpt from Blacktongue's First Lesson
Eulor Blacktongue was a legendary half-elven wizard, who was renowned as a ruthless and cunning pursuer of the arcane. He lived in the fortress-tower called The Seastone Spire off the northern coast of the Realm. Though never confirmed by the wizard himself, it is rumored that Blacktongue was once an apprentice to the Sorcerer-King Yngraal.    When provoked into battle Blacktongue would attempt to overwhelm, demoralize, and dominate his foes, a tactic that Yngraal was also renowned for. This behavior, as well as a grim disposition and armored structure of his tower, led many to believe that the similarities were more than coincidence.    Eulor was adept at bending the natural laws of magic, and has created a number of new spells that bear his name. These spells were powerful, but Eulor was notoriously selfish and secretive with his knowledge, keeping only a handful of apprentices over his lifetime.   His studies often required the use of live test subjects, a practice considered cruel and barbaric, and was outlawed in most of the Realm. Slave barges and smuggling ships were a common sight around the waters of the Spire. Though many in the Realm vehemently opposed this practice, there were none who mustered the courage to confront Blacktongue about his vile study.   In the 17th century PA, Blacktongue was rumored to be attempting to ascend to lichdom. A group of powerful mages led by the legendary Lorian Redwind, one of Blacktongue's chiefest rivals, assaulted the Seastone Spire to thwart his ritual. It is unknown what occurred during the attack, but the Seastone Spire was subsequently destroyed in a torrent of untamed arcaneenergies. So strong was this magic that the region around the Seastone Spire remains unstable and battered by eldritch storms to this day, dubbed Eulor's Folly.   It is assumed that both Redwind and Blacktongue perished in this event.
