Master Huun

"I do not wield this sword, nor does it wield me. We are each other. The blade knows my wants and needs. It knows my intent. Likewise, I know what the blade desires. And right now... it wants only one thing..."
  • Master Huun, to the Tlincalli Warlord Skrsrahkt
  •   Master Huun is the current Iron Teacher of the Djeran Sword Scholars, and the first Qussim-Sahl to join the monastery. It was under Huun's tenure that a schism formed between Scholars who wished to join The Djeran Expansion War and those who wished to remain neutral, a conflict that became known by the Scholars as The Severing.   Huun was born to a Qussim-Sahl tribe that dwelled in the south west of the Djeris Desert, in the rocky landscape around the Al-Azraq Gorge. Their tribe had recently been decimated by conflicts between them and the Tlincalli that inhabited the region, and Huun grew up in an atmosphere tension and fear. Most of the tribe's warrior caste had been killed or captured by the Tlincalli, leaving the Sahl little option but to hide in the sandy caves whenever a raid occurred.   When Huun came of age, they made the difficult decision to leave their tribe and venture across the desert to Ja'asir and attempt to study swordsmanship under the Sword Scholars, a group of warriors he had learned of from a traveling caravan.   Huun fought a tireless battle during his travels dealing with Thri-Kreen skirmishers, Tlincalli raiders, hostile caravanners, and the unforgiving desert itself. It took Huun survived alone in the desert for four months before he finally reached the Parapet of Blades in Ja'asir, and even then he was violently turned away by the gatekeepers of the monastery.   Huun sat outside the gates of the Parapet of Blades for seven days and nights without food or water, and pleaded his case to the guardsmen, who would frequently abuse Huun both verbally and physically. Huun never fought back.   On the eighth day, the gates opened, and Huun was granted audience with the Iron Teacher.   Over the next decade and a half, Huun became the most capable swordsman of the Sword Scholars, second only to the Iron Teacher himself. In addition to his skill with a sword Huun became a gifted calligraphist whose works can still be seen in museums and art galleries today.
