Meridian

Far to the south east of Calthea in the Aesteran Sea lies the grotto city of Meridian. The city is built upon massive stalagmites, which themselves are located in a colossal undersea cavern. There are two ways into Meridian: through the Oculus at the top of the dome (called the Skylight) or through a magical underwater tunnel (called the Spillway).
While the grotto is home to many pirate gangs and other sea-faring ne'er-do-wells, inter-crew violence in rare. The Law of Thieves  absolutely prohibits bloodshed among seafarers while in the city. This doesn't mean the city is safe however...   A nearby Sahuagin Barony has a tense cease-fire with the pirates of Meridian, but this does not prevent the occasional scuffle between pirate crews and the aquatic raiders.

Government

The Lady Cephon (more colloquially known as The Captain or The Corsair) is the ruler of Meridian, but her council of Meridian Captains are responsible for carrying out her orders.

Industry & Trade

The city is a bustling port for exotic goods (probably illegal), rare curiosities (most likely illegal), illicit services (definitely illegal), and other untoward trade commodities (read: absolutely illegal).

Guilds and Factions

An innumerable number of pirate crews call Meridian home, and most of them get along just fine (provided they keep clear of each other).

Architecture

The city's architecture is pure chaos. Shanties and shacks bearing the designs of a thousand different cultures crawl across the stalagmites of Meridian. Rope bridges and catwalks zig and zag across the chasms between the stone, appearing from a distance like a massive spider's web. Hulls of ships are hoisted up and lashed to the spires, forming homes, businesses, and entire districts of the city. Shit. Is. Whack.

Geography

The massive domed cavern called The Grotto that houses the city is riddled with wormlike tunnels and fissures. Small waterfalls dot the walls, but the chamber itself is in no danger of collapsing or flooding. Yet.
Population
Constantly changing, but at least 7,500 permanent residents.
Inhabitant Demonym
Meridian
