The Realm

The Realm is one of the main continents in The World. It is home to a plethora of different species, races, civilizations, biomes, and ecosystems. Each society at one point has had their own name for the land, but in time it simply became known as The Realm.
Though the exact origins of the continent are unknown, it is believed that The Realm was once part of a massive landmass that was sundered in prehistory. Judging by the varied biomes of The Realm, it's assumed that it was once the center of this ancient landmass, where the various ecosystems of the huge continent met. 
The Realm is a largely independent region, with only a small amount of civilizations forming kingdoms and expanding their borders. Most of the population live in independent villages and towns, city-states, or strongholds.
