Crystal Steel

Properties

Physical & Chemical Properties

When ground up, it can be mixed into food or drink to behave as an odorless, tasteless, and colorless poison.  Acute poisoning can cause vomiting, abdominal pain, psychological disturbance, and watery diarrhea that contains blood.  Smaller doses over time produce subtler slowly progressing symptoms like weakness, confusion, paralysis, and eventually death.  When a person ingests very small amounts over time they may experience thickening of the skin, hyperpigmentation, abdominal pain, diarrhea, heart disease, numbness, and cancerous growths.

Game Effect (D&D 5e)

If .0025 to .006 Ounces are administered in a short period of time, 1d4+1 hours later the target must make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw.  If they fail their saving throw, roll percentile dice.  A 25 or lower indicates death within an hour and a 26 or higher results in the poisoned condition as well as stomachache, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
1 hour later they must make another Constitution saving throw with a DC of 20.  If they fail their saving throw, roll percentile dice again. A 50 or lower indicates death within an hour and a 51 or higher results in the poisoned condition as well as stomachache, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
1 hour later they must make another Constitution saving throw with a DC of 25. If they fail their saving throw, roll percentile dice again. A 75 or lower indicates death within an hour and a 76 or higher results in the poisoned condition as well as stomachache, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.
1 hour later they must make another Constitution saving throw with a DC of 30. If they fail their saving throw, they die within an hour.  If they succeed this last saving throw they experience the poisoned condition as well as stomachache, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea for 4d6+4 hours and are then fine.
