Plate Beast

Large and dangerous, Plate Beasts are relatively peacefully creatures, who more often flee or hunker down when attacked by other creatures.  They have a rhino like appearance with much softer skin and a much thicker, more powerful tail.  This tail, and the large horn on the end of their snout is made of iron.  Through meddling magic or adaption of some kind, plate beasts have the ability to transform portions of their flesh into iron in response to attacks, making it very difficult to bring one down with normal means. The more of itself that it transitions to iron, the slower it becomes, but the harder it is to strike. They can use this ability to transform all parts of their body with the exception of their vital organs and become nigh on untouchable for a period of time. However, if they remain in this form for too long, it can become permanent
Native to the region that once housed the Jakarak Empire, the Plate Beasts continue to survive in The Jakarak Desert.
