Youkan Currency

Most transactions are done with gold coins of various sizes.   Chips are a tenth of an inch by a tenth of an inch and are considered equivalent to a copper piece. A chip can buy a pound of wheat or a candle.   Slivers are an inch by a tenth of an inch and would be considered equivalent to a silver piece. A sliver is worth about half a days wages for common folk. It can purchase a pound of iron or a modest meal.   Squares are roughly an inch by an inch and are considered equivalent to a gold piece. A square is worth half a day of skilled labour. It can purchase one goat or 50 feet of hempen rope.   Strips are 10 inches long and 1 inch wide and are considered equivalent to a platinum piece. A strip can purchase a cow or decently crafted shortsword.   Plates are 10 inches by 10 inches and are are worth the same as a Hrakken Jet Hectamark or 100 squares. A single plate can purchase 2 draft horses or a carriage. They are almost exclusively used for large transactions.
