Arcanotech
Arcanotech is the newest and most advanced form of arcane technology known as of yet. It infuses constructs with a combination of Arcane runes, spellgems, complex mechanisms and circuitry. Invented by Tornath, the Arcanist Savant, Arcanotech mostly functions due to his patented creation: The Mil Core. The Mil Core does many things, but its most common and prominent use in Arcanotech is its own renewable powersource. Composed of a unique crystalline material that has the ability to absorb and store magical energy named Milax, The Mil Core manages to absorb the surrounding Mil in its vicinity without damaging it and turning it into its own fuel. In this way, an Arcanotech construct is able to keep going and perform complex tasks without needing to recharge. Some even showing signs of gaining a conscience! Gone are the days of wasting fuel and harming the environment, when Arcanotech is around!
Arcanotech devices range from small gadgets and tools to massive machines and structures. They can perform a wide range of functions, from enhancing the abilities of the user to manipulating the very fabric of reality. They are often controlled through complex user interfaces that allow the user to manipulate the magic and energy flows in order to achieve the desired effect.
Despite its incredible power and versatility (Or perhaps because of it), arcanotech is a highly complex and delicate system, and requires skilled engineers and technicians to design, build, and maintain. Additionally, the use of arcanotech is highly regulated, as the potential for misuse and abuse is great, and the consequences of a malfunction or accident can be catastrophic. There are a number of licensed Engineering schools in Sioa that cover the use of Arcanotech and that are able to grant one permission to build their own Arcanotech devices. However, some forms must be completed and a status report of one's inventions must be shown to ensure safety measures and conditions are being met. This, of course, does not stop some from illegally making use of Arcanotech, which has become a rampant problem in recent years.
