Genasi

Long ago, the primordial planes found themselves at war, looking to expand their rule in a foolish and short-sighted pursuit of power and territory. The titanic clash of their energies started seeping into our plane, and elemental chaos began to wreak havoc. It was called the Primordial War. Lamis, the Archdruid led an expedition alongside Auth, Archmagister of Sioa and Öldrin, The Dwarven King. They defeated Ragnor, Lord of Fire and Zephyr, the Storm King, and gained the trust of Nereida, the Ocean Queen and Grom, the Mountain Lord. After proving themselves worthy and getting the attention of the Lords, they gathered to finally put an end to this conflict. In their negotiation, the primordial planes were granted 4 isles they could reign over, now named the Elemental Isles. The Isle of fire, wind, earth, and water, each overlooked by the Gods and their respective lord. The conflict was brought to a halt and peace was able to be brought back to the realm, with the elemental chaos contained within the isles. The effects of this clash were not minor, however. Genasi were born, a strange fusion of man and elemental energy. The power of the primordial lords shook the weave itself, and many started to be born with elemental powers. First, it was normal newborns having this connection, but as more and more started to be born, they became their own kind. Genasi come in many shapes and sizes, and they reproduce the same way as humans.
When you pick a Genasi, you gain the following feature as well as all features gained from your subrace depending on which one you chose:

Fire Genasi: Blazing retaliation.

When a creature hits you with a melee attack, you may use your reaction to make the creature take fire damage equal to your constitution modifier (minimum of 1). You may use this reaction a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1) before taking a short rest. At 5th level, this damage becomes 1d6 + your con modifier, and you can choose to affect all creatures within 5 feet of you instead of just the attacker.

Water Genasi: Water Form.

When a creature hits you with a melee attack, you may use your reaction to momentarily shift your physical form into that of water. You move 5+twice your Con modifier feet away from your spot without provoking opportunity attacks. You may use this reaction a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1) before taking a short rest. At 5th level, the distance you cover becomes 10 + twice your Con modifier. In addition, if you end this movement next to a creature, you can make an Unarmed strike against it.

Earth Genasi: Harden Skin.

When a creature hits you with a melee attack, you may use your reaction to momentarily harden your skin, gaining resistance to the triggering damage type for the rest of the turn if it is either bludgeoning, piercing or slashing. You may use this reaction a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1) before taking a short rest. At 5th level, you can use your reaction to grant yourself advantage against a Strength or Constitution saving throw you're subjected to. This consumes a use of this feature.

Air Genasi: Defensive Gust.

Defensive Gust. When a creature hits you with a melee attack, you may use your reaction to forcefully push it away from you. The creature must make a Strength saving throw (DC 8+your con modifier+your proficiency bonus) or it is pushed 5+your con modifier feet away from you. You may use this reaction a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1) before taking a short rest. At 5th level, you can use your reaction when falling to reduce the damage you take by an amount equal to your level + your con modifier. This consumes a use of this feature.
