Goliaths

Goliaths are an interesting kind. Descended from Giants, there are no records as to the exact origin of their creation. Most goliaths can be found in the cold tundra of Halsar, but some are known to inhabit other parts of the world in small communities. Living nomadic lifestyles and forming tribes and clans, Goliaths thrive in their lack of real societal structure. Wild mannered and gifted with the natural prowess of the giants, Goliaths are a mighty sight to behold in battle. A tribe or clan’s structure differs from group to group, but they all have a general respect for most Giants, although they do not strictly abide by their hierarchy. Goliaths are born by carving runic symbols into the sides of rocky mountains. The symbols are usually that of the clan which they are part of, and must contain the name which they will identify with. The symbols are then infused by a shaman with the innate power of the giants that resides in all Goliaths. As the symbols begin to glow a bright blue, a goliath is pushed out through the stone, standing at around 6 feet tall, and will grow until they reach well over 7 ft tall, although some may greatly surpass this estimate.   If you play a Goliath, you gain the following feature as well as any features gained from your race:

Giant’s Will

As a bonus action, you can tap into the innate power of the giants found within you. You gain the following benefits:
  • You grow a foot in size
  • Your attacks deal extra damage equal to half your proficiency bonus rounded down
  • Your jumping distance is doubled
You stay in this state for 1 minute, until you dismiss it as a bonus action, are knocked unconscious or you die. After you use this ability, you must make a constitution saving throw equal to 10 + the number of rounds you spent in this form + the number of times you’ve transformed. On a failed save, you gain a level of exhaustion. You can assume this form a number of times equal to your Constitution modifier (minimum of 1) before taking a long rest. At 6th level, you can grow one size category when using this feature.   (If you choose a Runecarver or a Path of the Titan barbarian you may activate this ability as part of the same bonus action to activate their abilities [Runic Might for Runecraver, Fury of the Titans on Path of the Titan]. When you grow one size category at 6th level, you can become Huge with Runic Might instead of Large and later on become Gargantuan instead of Huge with Legendary Rune Carver. For Path of the Titan you grow two size categories instead of one when raging, and three size categories at level 18. In both of these cases, you must use both Giant's Will and the subclasses' features to do so.)
