Runeforging
Runeforging is a long practise first discovered by Dwarven and gnomish inventors around -6000 TGR. It focuses on infusing tools, weapons and equipment with runic symbols of arcane or divine power, in order to harness it. It is not an easy process, for one runic weapon can take days or even weeks to properly forge. It requires a very methodical process with very detailed and sometimes convoluted steps in order to get the runes to work. A runeforger may spend many days working away on a single Runic item just to get it to work. Most Runeforging is carried out inside the Runeforge, a specific kind of forge capable to being fed raw magical energy in order to convert it into runes. Spellcasters can assist in the process of Runeforging by feeding the forge their own magical energy, although this is a taxing process for even the most advanced casters. A lot of Arcanotech was initially inspired by Runeforging, and it is no surprise that it continues to employ techniques and parts directly translated from it. A runeforger can take many years to master the craft, which very often leads to the dwarves, longer lived and hardier than many other races, as well as having a deep and special connection to minerals, to be some of the few truly capable of unlocking its true potential. This does not mean, however, that it is limited to their kind, as they are willing to share their knowledge with those interested in learning.
