Chapter 15: Koincidences

General Summary

The party was given a chance to rest and catch up prior to their proper meeting with the Koi Spirit. Hana inquired about the specifics of the impending apocalypse. Samantha shared her theories, that the aetherial imbalance is to blame.   In the Void, Pricia stowed away the eight fragment of the Pantheon, needing only two more.   Provided dinner and a chance to talk to Jannelain, the Medians got to submit their requests. On Sheryl's suggestion, Luanshi came to Jannelain for an enchantment. Jannelain made a big deal about the distance, both physical and emotional between him and Sheryl. He proclaimed to be the Empire's second-best mage, with the best 'Vernon' not being on board this initiative. Presumably referring to the Eteras Project as a whole.   Jannelain examined Hana's umbrella, which had its Ward fade over time. The probably cause appeared to be the incident at Tori no Machi, where Caerean's incantation leveled the entire town, and left the survivors sick.   Luanshi was able to get his staff enchanted with a Dyne incantation. Supposedly a basic unaspected blast that's highly reactive to other aspected aether. It seems quite versatile, allowing the staff to inherit other aspects and provide a boost, both to the user and whatever object finds itself at the end of the staff. The concept of this enchantment apparently stemmed from someone called Jaclyn, an old colleague of Jannelain's.   When the matter of the worlds' impending doom came up, Jannelain was requested aid in Faerus' plan. Yet Jannelain retorted with a history lesson of the last world ending event. The origins of the Empire, rising from new management, with the sole purpose of saving mankind. The significance of the color Black, in relation to the death of a star, and the power it would grant those garbed in it. The use of the Pantheon to create new worlds, and the Eteras Project's goal of copying them without the need of the beasts.   After the Error that caused the creation of Medius and Minor, the project fell apart, leading to governance falling on the Guardian Kean, the former Emperor prior to the Sage. Whatever was left of the former Empire seemed to reform on Medius, thus drawing the ire of the population as they saw the Old World return bit by bit. Though Kean eventually went missing in action on Minor, the Empire's remnants awaited his return, or that of his successor. Granting leadership only to those who bore one of their souls, under the guise of Acting Guardian.   Jannelain considered Faerus' plan an act of suicide, one that would do little to help the people trapped on the other worlds. He vouched for evacuation to another world brought into being by the Sage, one that may still remain standing. To do so they would need a vessel capable of crossing the stars and carrying the population to another world. One such vessel was created by the Empire, the Vestige of Knowledge. One that just so happens to be residing on Major, within the Receptacle.   As the party finds some semblance of hope in the plan to evacuate, the Empire's remnants arrive at the Gate, capturing the location for their own purposes.
