Chapter 18: Lunch and Tragedy

General Summary

After hours of cart riding, the party came close to the Great Wood where they could finally meet with the Minian, Sheryl. The cart came to a sudden stop as the horses refused to cross a damaged bridge. The bridge, covered in corrosive substance, damages on all sides, seemingly underwent battle damage only a few days ago. At the side of the bridge was a warrior's grave, bearing the sword of the late Kaye.   Alas, the investigation did not yield any clues towards the cultprit. When everyone got back on the cart, they were able to ask Faerus about Minor. Given the aetheric conditions, the lands themselves have very likely warped beyond recognition, and its people too would face similar conditions. Floating islands and tails may just be the least surprising developments one may encounter there.   The party arrived in the forest village, where they would seek out Sheryl. Along the way, Faerus asked if Samantha had been taught the Spider Wheel yet. This not being the case, she volunteered Luanshi to the task of teaching her. Faerus remarked that the Flying Skills are some of the few truly unaspected techniques that Medians tend to use, largely derived from the Dyne incantation.   Arriving at the peak of the village, the party met Sheryl, the former Flower Spirit. After introductions, they all went out to lunch. Sheryl asked how the state of the aether was on Major, and if her colleagues made any headway on the issue. Samantha reported back that findings were promising, but needed a much larger scale application. Sheryl was eager to get back to this project, before being told the worlds would soon end.   Attempts to find a new plan to address the crisis failed. Sheryl would instead pledge the services of her fellows to aid the evacuation attempt.
