Chapter 19: The Office of Aetherial Research and Development
General Summary
The party managed to arrive at the Office of Aetherial Research and Development. And true to his word, Luanshi assisted Xia Fei Lu with her project. Currently in the form of a rug bearing a flower-like pattern, the device seems capable of converting input aether of one aspect into an equivalent in its spectrum.
With Luanshi's aid, Fei Lu was able to map the conversion cycles of Gravity, Sonic, Kinetic and Arcane. After the experiments concluded, Master Zu entered the office and guided the party along to the Archives.
Within the Archives, Master Zu would explain the origins of the world. Eteras Major was the world originally bearing the designation of Eteras, and it was from that world that Medians came. Development into biological alteration produced people capable of thriving on the planet with its denser aetheric composition.
The Empire spearheaded the population of Eteras Medius after these developments, under supervision of the Guardian, Kean.
After initial population initiatives proved simple to execute, supervision was divided up into two offices. The Office of Societal Foundation and Logistics to arrange all things society and settlements, while the Office of Aetherial Research and Development would cover the arcane and its usage.
As the survey of Eteras Minor began, an Acting Guardian was elected to supervise the development of Eteras Medius, a role which now bears the nickname of Emperor.
Shortly after the initial founding of Eteras Minor, the Guardian went missing and all communication between the planets ceased. Leaving behind stowaways of Eteras Minor on Medius, these Minians would one day be worshipped and refered to as Spirits by the populace.
Unable to act on their presence due to lack of policy set by the Guardian of Eteras Minor, the Minians were left to do as they pleased.
A few years ago, a policy was finally drafted to deal with them, to cancel out worship by spreading information of their origins, but some would fight back to ensure this never came to pass.
The Wolf was enlisted to counter such violence, bringing a swift end to conflict when needed.
All in all, it seems hiding Teichi was of little use, though Master Zu seemed familiar with the Fox Spirit's identity.
Master Zu vowed to look into the matter of the Wolf, perhaps to find a solution to the terror it instills in the fringes.
Hana would remain behind to tend to matters of her own interest, while Luanshi would return to Teichi to dispel the dimensional shift.
With his mission now clear at last, he said his farewells and glided off the mountain to Teichi...Or part of the way at least.
