Chapter 19: The Swordfish

General Summary

Having returned from their venture in the woods, only Shi Jill is around to entertain the party. After ruminating on the evacuation plan, the revoking of rights of royal guardsmen and the general state of the world, Shi Jill proposed to go on a little investigative trip. Hoping to at the very least find Caerean by the end of it, the party sets off.
While waiting for a cart to be fetched by Jill, the party practices their ability to sprint across bodies of water. After a brief bit of traveling, they arrive at the Coastal village. After some talk about everyone's upbringing, the party heads to the shop owned by Quen Mizuki, former engineer of the Empire. Jill manages to talk Mizuki into trading a relic in her keeping for Samantha's Runelock Pistol. The relic in question turns out to be of Old World make, bearing the title Sixfold Tempest.
The party sets off South, where the General's conquest is supposed to have ended. On their travels, they are once again accosted by a bandit, this one having brought low the Bridge of Challengers, where Luanshi's journey and rivalry first began. The Swordfish was dispatched after a brief exchange of blows, leaving the party to venture on.
The party arrived at the Southern Wastes, treading the cold snow until they would stumble upon a site of significance. A place scarred by something that happened some time ago. The party was able to make out the trademark scent of corruption inflicted by Da Kaye. As well as locate the General's lost weapon, now bestowed upon Samantha as a status symbol.
