Chapter 4: Into the Crossfire
General Summary
Still somewhat sore from the recent training match, Fei Lu proposes the party train in joint defensive operations. Old age military protocol has designated strategies involving 2 or more soldiers in a squad as Crossfire. These strategies often employ area denial, while allowing for safe zones for friendly melee units to avoid getting struck by the magical artillery.
Fei Lu seems far too eager to put these drills to the test, and Tia seems well versed in these operations, hinting that they may have spent far too much time working on these before. Without a word, they fill in eachother's strikes into a symphony of destruction, all while offering their opponents a chance to escape utter annihilation.
As the strategies employed became more easy to evade instinctually, Fei Lu decided to re-enact the Vortex, though without interference this time. Though the initial assault was able to be weathered with a simple barrier, the reaction with the arcane pillar sent the whirlwind into overdrive.
Samantha decided the best way to counter this is by taking on the aspect of Astrama the Encompassing, allowing her core to absorb the vortex whole and diffuse it into de-aspected aetheric radiation.
The training match thus reached its end, with neither party having suffered a blow. Which is a good thing, or Master Zu Mi would have been very upset.
Arriving after the fight's conclusion, Zu Mi came to inform Samantha that she had been afforded both an office and living quarters within the Office. Now fully set up to perform her mission, the next step would be entirely up to her and her guide.
