Chapter 6: When it rains
General Summary
Luanshi managed to arrive in the village just as the weather turned sour. He decided to take shelter within a teahouse, both for cover and to satiate his growing hunger. Within the teahouse he saw a familiar face who he reluctantly sat next to.
Through conversation, he learnt a few things that expand his perspective on the political situation. The empire never disbanded following the death of the emperor, but appeared to go into a prolonged state of mourning. The prince has decided it has been long enough and is now reclaiming the lands. The empire isn't conquering areas that had previously aligned themselves with it, they are simply recruiting more workers and soldiers.
The Scholar suggested to simply learn more about his target and seek to resolve their underlying issues, rather than giving in to baser urges and fight.
Luanshi located the nearest smithy and took to browsing. Inside he found a specimen he had never seen before, something described as a 'Firearm' by the attendant. An unpopular weapon capable of piercing metal armor without requiring the skill normally needed to accomplish such feats. In the end, he bought a pouch of metal balls to use however he saw fit.
