Chapter 7-L: The Cataclysmic

General Summary

With Luanshi's soul one more separated from his body and mind, it could properly take in the sudden addition to its memories. A trip backwards into time would allow for an opportunity to refresh them. The soul is ever an inquisitive one, when knowledge presents itself, it cannot help but seek it out.
For the soul ever yearns to understand the greater picture, even if the mind cannot comprehend it.
To start its journey, the Soul would elect to discover things chronologically. Though it would only find a means to access fragments its current lifetime had an emotional connection with.
In the scorching desert stood the Scout, personal agent of the Emperor in surveying the lands. Equipped by the Mechanic to venture out into the unknown and report their findings back to the Emperor, the scout would be deployed to the Origin, alongside a contingent of support operatives.
The scout surveyed the desert, finding an oasis where the local fauna would convene to drink, when they're not occupied with hunting one another. The bright star on the horizon was quite a change from the Empire, where light is often scarce and dim.
The Mechanic called in, warning the Scout of a signal they found heading to their area. Another specimen for capture, apparently. Nothing to it but wait and see.
The wiser beasts turned tail the moment the water started to shake. Those more stubborn remained behind. The beast was not tolerant of those in its domain, given one last warning of fire before making its way down. Even the stubborn wizened up and left.
Capricae contacted the Virtuous for support, rather than deal with a direct connection to the Scoundrel. Providing her with the appropriate tactical information, she would requisition the countermeasures from HQ before making their way over. The Scoundrel would sadly be part of the operation, but so be it.
The Scout and Scoundrel wasted no time bickering upon convening, though the Virtuous urged them to remain focused on the task at hand.
The fight with the Cataclysmic was dicey, though the Transcendent seemed to have matters well in hand, as is their reputation. Any other soldier might have perished on the field to this beast.
