Chapter 8-L: The Deathless

General Summary

Another vision, another chance to look into the past to find some meaning to it all. Whatever relevance these memories hold, Luanshi...or perhaps Capricae, will uncover them.   The Scout had finished their mission to subdue Anemar, the Furious and was being picked up by the Mechanic. The Scout approached the Mechanic to find out where their next destination would be. The ice caps, where yet another anomalous signal was detected. Another potential beast to capture for the sake of research.   The Mechanic pointed out some minor damages to the Scout's suit, and continued to express her worries for their continued health and safety on this operation.   The Mechanic considered upgrading some of the Scout's suit's properties, but veered off to a discussion on her latest invention, the Runelock. A handheld weapon capable of operating a slotted projectile rune to fire where aimed at, simple enough for unskilled combatants to grasp and use.   The Empire has been recruiting motivated, yet untrained individuals to fight for the cause. This has lead the Mechanic to see the writing on the wall, sacrifices will have to be made in order for the limited timeline to be achieved.   En route to the next destination, trouble reared its head. A dragon bearing mastery over corruption decided to assault the Skyship. The Scholar's approach was to chase the Dragon off, so that they could deal with it later.   The Dragon was particularly frail, leading to a short battle, though at great risk to the arena it was fought on. Its capability to rip the Scout out of their phase caused a measure of confusion. Parts torn from it appeared to come back as full dragons, though smaller in size. Eventually, with the help of the Mechanic and a flash-freezing from the Scholar, the Dragon was sent to the lands below. So it was that the Scout first encountered Erandir, the Deathless.
