Intermission: Oh. Kaye.

General Summary

Samantha used her time off to meditate on her progress thus far, particularly on the many ways Medians traverse the world using their mastery over aetherial manipulation. After enough rest, she began wandering the confusing halls of the Office of Aetherial Research and Development, only to end up at Fei Lu's office, who seemed to be making improvements to her sword's mechanism.
The recent training match had given Fei Lu the inspiration she needed to reduce the chance of backfiring when channeling aether into her sword, a problem that resulted in a rather explosive situation.
Fei Lu informed Samantha of the Second Floor Basement, which apparently houses very old relics, likely belonging to the Old World era. In order to gain access however, they needed someone from the archeological division to grant permission. Fei Lu knew just the person, surmising that he would be brooding somewhere in public.
The pair arrived at the Training Grounds to find Kaye, whose name had been dropped several times before. Unable to sway him through diplomatic means, the answer would be violence, as is the norm.
Though off to a rocky start, Kaye was unable to land a solid hit on Samantha, though he would tear through her defenses and deflect her strikes in turn. As the fight dragged on, the pace kept raising, until Samantha had to bear her full might against Kaye. When it came down to swordplay, both of them were matched equally, ending the duel with a technique signature of the Liondog Heir.
With Kaye's need for battle satiated, he granted them access to the Second Floor Basement.
The SFB contained a wealth of Old World relics, including weaponry, research equipment, data logs, armor and works of art. The Aetherized Armor on display had a resemblance to Kaye's conjured variant, likely having taken inspiration from his time in this chamber. A painting of the Guardian, Kean, seemed to have been taken down from the halls and placed in storage after it kept scaring children.
After scavenging through the room, everyone went to bed for the night. Fei Lu opened another few side projects to add onto her plate, inspired by the old 'junk'.
