Making use of stored aetherial charges gained by the Rune of Absorption, rather than feeding the Rune of Channeling, the aether is channeled back into the Rune of Absorption, causing its effects to spread over a much wider area, draining more volatile forms of aether. This effect, when timed correctly, is capable of nullifying incantations, as their requisite aether is suddenly cut off and drawn towards the user.

The application of Ruinous aether has been a staple in Parmante's scholarly disciplines. An eager student once asked what this aether does when infused back into a young specimen of aether root. Being unwilling to turn down the student's query, young as she was, researchers attempted isolated tests of this process, returning to the student with an answer: The aetherial draw that the plant exhibits in its youth grows to tremendous levels for a brief moment, drawing in aether from a wide area and regaining more aether than was expended in the first place, if the circumstances allow for it. The young student simply nodded to the explanation, taking note of this all, while pretending not to care.
