After receiving several important life lessons following a rejected attempt to woo a friend, Garret Hawkes requested a change in loadout to strive to be a better hero. Though skeptical of the request, Jacky Mac Konvoy set to work on the first set of 'Limiters', the Spark Hawk Custom Pistols.

Created as a means to limit Garret's offensive damage output by regulating the potency of shots through his VISOR, the pistols offered a 'safe' means of engaging opponents without the risk of inflicting accidental fatal harm. Though the exact safety of being punched by a force bolt remains dubious, Garret returned to the field quickly after receiving the pistols.

While functionally similar to their sisters, the Thunderhawk Custom Machine Pistols, the Spark Hawks exchange the ability to rapid-fire shots for extreme firepower with their charge setting, both retaining a semi-automatic setting. The pistols make use of the integrated blue power core to generate a measured force bolt which ejects from the barrel at high velocity. These force bolts can be used to deliver blunt impacts to a target and allow the weapons to be fired even when out of ammunition, the preferred method of firing for Garret.

Force bolts are also capable of accelerating any object that lies within their path, allowing the pistols to eject rounds of ammunitions to provide piercing or slashing impacts as well, depending on the preference of the user and the availability of ammunition.
Since the pistols do not rely on propellant to accelerate their projectiles, rounds of ammunition are typically inserted as caseless bullets, allowing a much larger pool of ammunition for each magazine, for a total of 32 rounds in a standard magazine.

They pistols were outfitted with target sights, laser sights and an accessory rail in addition to an Identify Friend Foe sensor connected to the user's VISOR, preventing the accidental firing on allied units by disabling the firing mechanism.
