Hollows

Where legends come to die

Hollows – The hollows are a series of 'pseudo realms', containing massive hazardous floura, fauna, or terrain features which make providing sustainable life to humanoids largely infeasible or impossible. They may be linked to each other physically or by means of magicka or unlinked entirely.   These areas are safer than madness, but far more dangerous than a realm. Hollows are considered to be a possible intermediate between zone between the realms that are not completely plunged into madness. Hollows have been reported to have drastic geographic variances, from endless expanses of land formations or water. They vary from rifts because rifts are the most direct transrealm route, meanwhile, hollows have no promise of destination, like a rift leading to uncertain purgatory.   Some of the most seasoned adventures and hardened warriors are ambushed by creatures both known and unknown from the hollows.   When embarking in empty documented hollows, they can be scarred from conflict. Oftentimes, the known hollows are treated as buffer zones between warring or conflicting realms.   The current documented realms consist of,   Lago - A small Hollow situated between Nevalice and Llorentiel. In the past, was used as a buffer between the two realms but in more recent times conflicts have been fought in this location. Aside from a rough path, refuse, and rubble left by humans, nothing exists in this Hollow other than blueish crumbly sand shaped into dunes and a dull yellow sky devoid of clouds.   After two weeks of travel in this Hollow in a particular direction, without any specific hint or sign, transients may reach the end of the Hollow, and end their journey somewhere in Nevalice or in the Lesray region of Llorentiel. It is unsure exactly which directions lead to where. Orientation devices such as compasses and divination do not work. Generally speaking, a particular orientation from one direction to the next will terminate a journey and result with landing somewhere within the opposite realm. The most notable orientation, Lago's trail, is a purposely made path which crosses from the Lesray region to Chedlena of Nevalice.   Rago - A small Hollow similar in orientation compared to Lago, between Nevalice and Llorentiel. Instead of being a Hollow consisting of sand/soil, it is one singular island in an apparently vast and relatively calm ocean which is dangerous to touch for prolonged periods of time. The island is flat and devoid of fauna and flora, exhibiting an odd property of materializing items and objects; many of which that are banal and commonly known, but some are anomalous in semblance and operation, possibly existing from some other land which is alien to the realms.   In addition to the island and toxic water, shipwrecks poke out from the shores of the sole island, where fugitives and the occasional mobilized militant force will be moving through to raid an opposing realm. Despite human presence, no humans are capable of living here due to lack of potable water, vegetation, and occasional storms. Navigational equipment functions here however the only path of egress exists form the Atal Sea into Uneen-En.
