Ardorsun Festival

To celebrate the act of creation is the greatest thing we can do

The Ardorsun Festival is the largest and most important celebration of the Phoenixans. Happening at the height of summer, it isn't simply a celebration of life, but of the act of creation entirely.

The Meaning

Life is one of the most important parts of Phoenixan culture, along side rebirth and fire, and their most celebrated. For the Ardorsun Festival, the focus is creation. Not one type of creation, but all of it. Art, music, dance, there is no limit to what counts as creation during the festival.
There is nothing quite like the feel of the Ardorsun Festival. Phoenixans have a interesting view on life and death, and it is never as clear as during then. There is some much that we see as creation, but they don't shy from death.

Destruction also falls under the umbrella of creation, as Phoenixans see it differently then most other races.

The Festival

The festival lasts on average, five days, with the longest recorded time being ten days, but it is never less then three days. Some craftspeople set up booths along the streets to sell their wares, while others offer lessons to anyone who wishes. In fact, the second is encouraged, to a near ridiculous degree.   While other races are not required to, Phoenixans spend the entire year since the last Ardorsun Festival making a Sunfall, a small statuette made of a variety of materials, such as wood, metal or fabric. They're meant to represent the life of the maker, sharing the pains and triumphs of the past year. On the last day of the festival, all Sunfalls are tossed into a bonfire.   Each person has a different reason for the burning. For some, it is simply a part of the cycle, for others, it is freeing themselves from their pasts.
