Incident Reconnaissance Unit
The Final Realm has a great many dangers unlike those in other Realms. Because of this, the standing 'military' of the Realm has far more experience and yet is far less organized. Many times, by the time the military unit is dispatched somewhere, the problem has already been resolved by an Adventurers' Guild, especially in the early days. Improvements in communication magic reduced the number of these incidents. As a result, the most important and specialized unit of the military arose, the Incident Reconnaissance Unit.
The IRU, or Iruns as the members who be known as, is, at its core, an information gathering unit. When an issue is reported, it is the Iruns who are sent in first to determine how dangerous the issue is and the best way to respond. It is Iruns who relay information that is then pulled by scholars to determine what is causing the problem and how to solve it. Unfortunately, because of this, Iruns have a high morality and injury rate. This is why each squad of Iruns have at least one member capable of some healing to minimize the severity of the injuries.
Iruns also have the most contact with the Lost Walkers as they seem to only be aware of their section of any law enforcing group in the Final Realm other then select members of Cait Monarch. As a result, it is only Iruns that can get Lost Walkers to offer their help in any crisis, especially in areas where the problem is long-term and can only be contained. The Incident Reconnaissance Unit has the greatest understanding of Lost Walkers as a result, able to gather data about them without them noticing. This makes their already great importance even larger as understanding Lost Walkers is very high on the list of objectives for all the Realms.
