Sand Cixmoyt are a predator species native to the Final Realm. Named for their six legs, these reptiles are one of the most deadly hunters in the whole Realm. Any who travel in the Marsh Shadow Desert are advised to keep an eye out and practice caution, least they become it's next meal.
Anatomy
Reaching almost 3 feet at the shoulders, Sand Cixmoyt are the largest creatures in the desert. It is covered by overlapping scales with a line of fur down it's spine to approximately halfway down it's tail. The scales along most of it's body are small and individually vary in cover, giving it increased camouflage. The scales along the underside are much larger and fewer, offering more protection at the cost of flexibility.
It has six legs, although the middle pair are closer to arms then legs, able to grab and grasp but are still used for movement. It's tail is, on average, half it's body length and flexible. Living in the desert, it is cold-blooded. This does not, however, mean that it is incapable of hunting during the night, as the ambient heat given off by the sands keep it warm enough to hunt.
Diet
Sand Cixmoyt are omnivores, allowing them to take full advantage of life in the desert. While it is able to survive off only plant life, it will grow weak due to lacking certain nutrients. As a result, plants only composed 30 to 40% of it's regular diet, with the rest being meat. It has adapted to make the most of it's meals due to the scarcity of animals, to the point where it only needs one full meal every week
Behavior
Sand Cismoyt inhabit the top of the food chain, making them both docile and aggressive. Anything that doesn't immediately obviously dangerous becomes prey, including travelers, but those that do will be left alone. Unless, of course, it can get the drop on them later on.
Symbolism
For those who make it their mission to explore and discover the secrets of the Marsh Shadow Desert, there is nothing more dangerous, awe-inspiring and powerful than a Sand Cixmoyt. For these reasons, they have taken it as their official symbol of the Guild.
For them, it symbolizes resilience and resourcefulness, two of the most important qualities needed to explore and document the dangers of the desert.
