The Red Horizon
It is an Age of Civil War.
The last emperor of the Delkin Empire, Emperor Ferdinand the Fourth, died almost 200 years ago, and with him died the unity of the Empire. Split between his two sons, the lords of the land chose to become Kings instead. The once unified Church of Order has split in two as well.
Now, many of the minor lords have been crushed by the greater lords, leaving larger Kingdoms to fight over the remains of the Empire. Currently, there are no large scale conflicts, though nearly every Kingdom is ready to fight one. Minor battles and border skirmishes are commonplace.
A moderately sized port town finds itself at the center of the attention of three Kingdoms, each of which would love to acquire a new port in that bay.
